The Brandow Clinic provides the Obagi Blue Peel to improve skin tone and rejuvenate your complexion. Different factors can affect skin tone and texture over time, including the natural aging process, genetics, sun exposure & environmental factors. Patients may also suffer from acne scars or hyperpigmentation, which can affect self-confidence and take away from a youthful appearance.
Chemical peels are non surgical treatments that achieve natural-looking results by encouraging the growth of new, healthy skin cells. The Obagi Blue Peel is a specialized facial peel that can precisely and efficiently enhance the face, as well as the chest, neck, hands, arms, back and legs.
Obagi Blue Peel
The Obagi Blue Peel can be done during a surgery or as an in-office procedure that is suitable for all skin types. Medium depth peels are an innovative method of facial rejuvenation used to remove sun damage, acne scars, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. Your Obagi Blue Peel is made up of Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and a blue dye base. This chemical peel is unique in that the blue dye is incorporated for the applicator to judge the amount of liquid applied, thus regulating the strength of the acid peel. The blue base can correctly measure the depth of your peel for safe and accurate treatment.
Your chemical peel treatment should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Your skin will be cleansed and prepared and then the Obagi solution will be carefully applied to your skin. In preparation for the Obagi Blue Peel, we require that you pre-treat your skin with Obagi products for 4 to 6 weeks. Please contact our estheticians with any questions.

- If you are bothered by acne scars or sun damaged-skin.
- If you would like to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles or fine lines.
What Results Can I Expect From The Obagi Blue Peel?
The Obagi Blue Peel can improve skin tone and texture by addressing areas of uneven pigmentation and sun damage. Wrinkles and fine lines associated with aging can also be targeted with a chemical peel.
What Should I Expect After the Obagi Blue Peel?
Patients can return home immediately following Obagi Blue Peel treatment. You can expect the blue dye from your facial peel to completely fade within the first 24 hours of recovery. The recovery timeline is typically a week. Damaged skin cells will begin to slough off, as they are replaced by new, healthy skin cells. Oral medications can be prescribed to minimize any post-procedure discomfort, if necessary.
How Do I Care for My Skin After the Facial Peel Treatment?
It is important to limit your sun exposure and maintain proper skin hydration after your Obagi Blue Peel treatment. A daily skin care regimen that includes a moisturizer and sunblock (at least 50 SPF) is recommended.
What Are Other Options to Enhance the Results of the Obagi Blue Peel?
Your Obagi Blue Peel can be combined with skin care treatments, including FotoFacials and CO2 Laser Skin Resurfacing. Chemical peels may also be used to complement facial surgery procedures, including facelifts, neck lifts, neck liposuction, fat transplants, eyelid surgery or forehead lifts. Dr. Brandow can discuss which treatments best accomplish your procedure goals during your chemical peel consultation at our Philadelphia Area or South Jersey offices.
